I’ll start off with a quote from www.freedrinkingwater.com that summarizes what I want to say in this post: ‘Vitamins themselves do not give the body energy. However, they are chemical compounds which aid in important metabolic processes. There are many vitamins inside the food we eat, but the typical Western diet does not account for the amounts we really should be taking.’
We all know if we are not getting the proper nutrition that we need in our diets, our bodies can show it on the outsides. Including the proper amounts of vitamins and minerals in our diets is a great way to get healthy hair, skin and nails and maximize hair growth.
There are certain vitamins that are known for the aid in healthy hair and healthy hair growth. My favorites are MSM and Biotin. Finding a great multivitamin that contains a good amount of MSM and Biotin can help you maintain awesome skin and hair. ON a side note, when taking supplements, always make sure that you are consuming the recommended amount of water per day to help process and transport the nutrients that you are getting.
MSM—is also known as methyl sulfonyl methane. It is a naturally occurring form of sulfur found in foods but can be lost by processing and cooking of foods. Because it contains sulfur, it can help naturally lengthen your hair’s growth phase.
More info about MSM can be found all over the web…(lol) and @ http://www.msmhair.org/
Biotin—is a water-soluble B vitamin. It is also known as Vitamin H. ‘It is necessary for cell growth, production of fatty acids and the metabolism of fats and amino acids.’ (Wikipedia) Biotin deficiencies can be shown in hair loss, lack of eyebrows or growth of eyebrows, thinning and chipping nails. Adding biotin to your supplement routine can help aid the growth of healthy hair, skin and nails.
Other Vitamins and Minerals that can help with hair growth: Vitamin B-1 (repairs damaged hair follicles); Vitamin C (protects your scalp from harmful free radicals); Iron (supports hair regrowth); Vitamin E (stimulates hair follicles, moisturizes scalp and strengthens the blood vessels in the scalp); Zinc (protects the scalp from free radicals).
A lot of the oils that we use on our hair contain a ton of vitamins that our hair needs to be healthy. The greatest way to achieve healthy hair is on the outside and the inside of our bodies.
The easiest way is to find a great multivitamin that contains all of the vitamins and minerals that contribute to healthy hair and hair growth.
Another option would be to maintain a healthy diet full of these vitamins and minerals and to drink plenty of water.
As seen before, what we put in our mouths effect the overall health of our hair, skin and nails.
